Lenox we miss you every day!

It has only been a week...
our hearts are heavy and our house is empty...

LENOX of DEEPWOODS

9/29/2006 ~ 6/13/2011

You were originally known simply as the one in the litter with the orange string, but were soon named for the Boston hotel where Michelle and I got engaged. You were our fur-child, but you ate like an adult from early-on. You grew at warp speed and quickly gave your momma an ally in getting me to pick up after myself – those poor golf shoes never had a prayer!

Always the comedian, you’d never pass at the chance to slip me a ‘wet willy’ while I was shooting pool, or pounce your 190lb body on me in your ‘lapdog’ impersonation. We’ll certainly miss your nightly giant cat impression as you'd pace ‘round ’n ’round in finding that perfect spot to curl up for the evening.

I hope you knew how much I appreciated your patience around “the Littles.” Quinton alone would have driven the average dog mad, but you always maintained a most noble nature while being poked, prodded and pulled by our little army. I always knew my family was safe with you around.

You had your mutual wingman in Devon who helped you hide away and eat things you weren’t supposed to, and do things that teenagers should. I guess in dog years you were about 32, but you just refused to grow up in all the right ways.

This last week has been tough – but you were a rock. You barely let on that you were in pain while punctuating our presence with a thunderous “thump, thump, thump” of your huge tail on the floor each time someone entered the room.

It was clear this morning that your time was near, but your momma helped take the pain away. You being so much like your ol’ self made that last ride surreal, but it was only fitting.

In one last gesture of a perfect parent, Michelle pulled an orange string from her purse and tied it just right as we released you over the Rainbow Bridge. Rest in peace my dear friend, there’s no more pain… ~Bob

Poor pupdog...

Our poor "little" fur baby!!
Lenox has Lyme Disease. Darn stupid ticks! How the heck can something as small as a tick take down a BIG pupdog like Lenox? Yesterday Lenox was nursing his front paw in the morning and by late afternoon he was not able to move at all. All four paws were lame. It took me, Bobby, & Devon to carry (OK, drag) him to the truck to get him to the vet. At the vet they came to get him on a stretcher. Thank goodness for cell phone cameras. We were a sight!! They kept him overnight at the hospital. Hopefully he comes back home tonight.

Welcome to the World!

Introducing Neala Marie ~ January 27, 2009!!!
One hour after arriving at the hospital~
Signed in to Labor & Delivery at 8:30am & Neala made her entrance at 9:32am without any meds and without the doctor in the room. Thank goodness I've done this before, lol!
Daddy is an old pro now at cutting the cord.

Mommy & Neala...
Weighing in @ 8lbs 2.2oz... (20 inches long) Not sure if she likes life on the outside, lol.

Daddy checking out his baby girl.

I know I did ALL the work but it must be a lot of work being a new daddy, LOL!!!

Wide awake and checking out the world!
Just to prove she is part of the family!! Already copying her big sister.
A few pics of Mommy & Neala....

The little ones meeting Neala for the first time. They were so excited.

A kiss from the big brother...
I can't beleive how gentle he is with her!

Checking out her piggie toes.
A very proud big sister!
But of course with all little kids... the attention span is SHORT and the curtain in my recovery room was much more entertaining for the two of them! lol.
Devon meets baby sister #2. He looks like a pro too.
No need to tell Devon how to hold a baby!

GOING HOME!!!!!
