It has only been a week...

Always the comedian, you’d never pass at the chance to slip me a ‘wet willy’ while I was shooting pool, or pounce your 190lb body on me in your ‘lapdog’ impersonation. We’ll certainly miss your nightly giant cat impression as you'd pace ‘round ’n ’round in finding that perfect spot to curl up for the evening.
I hope you knew how much I appreciated your patience around “the Littles.” Quinton alone would have driven the average dog mad, but you always maintained a most noble nature while being poked, prodded and pulled by our little army. I always knew my family was safe with you around.
You had your mutual wingman in Devon who helped you hide away and eat things you weren’t supposed to, and do things that teenagers should. I guess in dog years you were about 32, but you just refused to grow up in all the right ways.
This last week has been tough – but you were a rock. You barely let on that you were in pain while punctuating our presence with a thunderous “thump, thump, thump” of your huge tail on the floor each time someone entered the room.
It was clear this morning that your time was near, but your momma helped take the pain away. You being so much like your ol’ self made that last ride surreal, but it was only fitting.
In one last gesture of a perfect parent, Michelle pulled an orange string from her purse and tied it just right as we released you over the Rainbow Bridge. Rest in peace my dear friend, there’s no more pain… ~Bob
